Text Messaging Terms and Privacy

Last updated: 2026-10-15

These terms cover text messages (SMS) between you and 4th Octet employees. By opting in to or using our text messaging, you accept these terms, our Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy.

Who we are

"4th Octet", "we", "our" and "us" mean 4th Octet LLC, Naperville, Illinois, USA.

What the service is

Each of our text-enabled phone numbers belongs to one named 4th Octet employee. We use them for one-to-one conversations with our clients and their staff about the IT services we provide: scheduling visits, confirming maintenance windows, updates on support requests, and replies to your questions. We do not send marketing, promotional or bulk messages.

How you opt in

You opt in when you give a 4th Octet employee your mobile number and agree, in person or by phone, to receive text messages from them, or when you text a 4th Octet employee's number first. "Opting in" means requesting, agreeing to, responding to or otherwise consenting to receive one or more text messages.

By agreeing to receive text messages, you also consent to the use of an electronic record to document your agreement. You may withdraw that consent by replying STOP.

Message frequency

Message frequency varies. After any first message describing the service, the number of messages depends on your conversation with our employee and the work we are doing for you.

Costs

We do not charge you for messages you send or receive. Message and data rates may apply, depending on your plan with your mobile carrier.

Help and opting out

Reply HELP to any message for help, or email info@4thoctet.com.

To stop receiving messages, reply STOP, QUIT, END, REVOKE, OPT OUT, CANCEL or UNSUBSCRIBE to any message. Opt-outs apply to the conversation with that employee's number. We may send one message confirming your opt-out. Reply START to resume.

Text messaging privacy

We use the information you provide through text messaging only to send and receive your messages and to respond to you. This includes sharing it with the platform providers, phone companies and other vendors who deliver the messages.

Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third party.

We may disclose information when required by law, regulation or a government request, to avoid liability, or to protect our rights or property. This section applies to text messaging and does not change our general Privacy Policy, which covers our relationship with you in other contexts.

Changes

We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version.
